World Mental Health Day 2017

You could be the change the world needs. You can be the sunshine that someone needs. You could be the difference between life, and something much worse.

Real

Not understanding isn’t a crime, but it’s not an excuse. It takes no time to ask a friend, a colleague or a stranger how they’re doing. Tuesday 10th October is World Mental Health Day. It’s not contagious. You can’t catch it. Be kind.

Poet’s Corner – Inhale

Facebook reminded me of a poem I wrote this day last year and so I thought I would get back into the swing of things with another little bit of poetic waffle.

Something About EU…

I’ve had some time to reflect over the weekend. Over the last few days, there has been a lot of turmoil across the country. People have been spreading hate and bile and vitriol, and using the excuse of democracy to do so. I have never seen such a divide and it’s reminiscent of times of real political unrest in the…

Sunshine Blogger Award

The lovely Mollie tagged me in this a while ago… She’s fabulous and I highly recommend you check out her blog and general existence. Actually, must send mega props to Mollie, as she also tagged me in a post that will become my next post as well! Keeping me on my toes… Plus, she keeps me amused by not forgetting me when I go quiet on Twitter and Snapchatting me pictures of cats. #winner

So here are my answers to Mollie’s questions!

Poet’s Corner – The Black Dog

Last night, I was reading Matt Haig’s Reasons to Stay Alive (review & giveaway coming soon), and he describes depression in the way Churchill did – as a black dog. Upon my Desk: The Reality

Never give up, or resign yourself to a negative life – you are worth more than that. Start with what is upon your desk – it’s as good a place as any. Don’t wait to be inspired – inspire yourself.

The Liebster Award

This morning, I woke to that familiar little notification symbol lighting up my WordPress. It was a wonderful surprise to find out I had been nominated for the Liebster Award by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse, a wonderful book blogger I recently began following. Thank you so much Deanna for giving me this lovely opportunity to answer your questions and promote…

Goodbye my Friend

Today, two days before the end of term, we had our school Staff Farewells. For the first time, I experienced these goodbyes personally, as two good friends from the department are moving on to pastures new. It’s that funny side-effect of teaching that they don’t teach you on your training; you develop emotional attachments to things which are hard to…

Dear Someone – 13/7/15

Day 3 – A letter to society Dear Britain, I can’t help but feel a great sense of despair hanging over much of the country. There is great jubilation from some, still celebrating the Conservative whitewash of May’s general election. This is ever more present with the recent announcement of the budget. However, the Conservative result has left many people…
