World Mental Health Day 2017

You could be the change the world needs. You can be the sunshine that someone needs. You could be the difference between life, and something much worse.

Poet’s Corner – Inhale

Facebook reminded me of a poem I wrote this day last year and so I thought I would get back into the swing of things with another little bit of poetic waffle.

Something About EU…

I’ve had some time to reflect over the weekend. Over the last few days, there has been a lot of turmoil across the country. People have been spreading hate and bile and vitriol, and using the excuse of democracy to do so. I have never seen such a divide and it’s reminiscent of times of real political unrest in the…

Sunshine Blogger Award

The lovely Mollie tagged me in this a while ago… She’s fabulous and I highly recommend you check out her blog and general existence. Actually, must send mega props to Mollie, as she also tagged me in a post that will become my next post as well! Keeping me on my toes… Plus, she keeps me amused by not forgetting me when I go quiet on Twitter and Snapchatting me pictures of cats. #winner

So here are my answers to Mollie’s questions!

Reminding yourself: Lokai bracelets

I got a nice surprise in the post when I got home this evening. That’s the benefit of ordering from abroad; you often forget what you’ve ordered by the time it arrives.

A little while back, I heard about Lokai bracelets from a friend, and thought the sentiment behind them was incredible… So naturally in my impulsive nature, I bought some.

Poet’s Corner – The Black Dog

Last night, I was reading Matt Haig’s Reasons to Stay Alive (review & giveaway coming soon), and he describes depression in the way Churchill did – as a black dog. Just as a I began to drift to sleep, my brain latched on to that metaphor, and my latest poem was born. Luckily, I wrote this one down… I will never stop being surprised by the power of words.

Me, Myself and Mental Health

Mental illness does not care who you are. It does not care whether you are a naturally bubbly person, or a pessimist. It doesn’t care if you are a loner, or surround yourself by friends at every given moment. It doesn’t care if you are in love. It doesn’t care if you are a high flyer. Mental illness is a predator, searching for your weak spots and exploiting them.

Upon my Desk: The Reality

Never give up, or resign yourself to a negative life – you are worth more than that. Start with what is upon your desk – it’s as good a place as any. Don’t wait to be inspired – inspire yourself.

Passion: Corporate Buzzword, Creative Buzz

Passion is that sparkle in your eye when you propose the solution to the marketing problem your company was having. Passion is that secret smile that creeps into the very corners of your lips when your vision finally comes to fruition and people can revel in the blood, sweat and tears. Passion is the late night learning and the Saturday morning meetings around your day-in-day-out schedule. Passion is the butterflies in your stomach. Passion is the promise that you will never give up trying. Passion is the high you get from simply being happy in a moment, without the thirst for recognition.
