Poet’s Corner – Rose Tinted

It’s there; dark, luminescent,

Shrouded in a dusky pink mist.

I blink, my eyes adjusting to the

New and unfamiliar.

I take the cautious steps of

A newborn, breath the

Empty promises of life;

They linger, stale in my lungs.

Chest tightening, I bolt

The door and fall backwards,

Caught only by my own arms

Outstretched, anticipating.

Once, I had arms to catch me,

To break the fall before they broke

My soul. Now, I fight alone,

Only my thoughts as company,

My shallow breaths as friends.

Even the darkness is comforting

Through rose tinted eyes.
